Learning the Ropes.

Hello Everyone,

Glad to inform you regarding my selection at INSc- INSA-NASI (Indian Academy of Sciences- Indian National Science Academy- National Academy of Sciences, India). I've been assigned to work under Dr. T. R. Sharma, Executive Director, National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute, Mohali.

In this blog, I would be sharing my day to day work and learning experience at NABI. Hope you'll find it useful and enjoyable too.

Day-1:
A running around Day

Along with my father, I headed to NABI, Mohali for joining the institute and beginning my 2 months- Summer Research Fellowship Program. The city had a welcoming weather with cool breeze and fairly low heat even in mid-summer. All the administration staff and officials at the Institute were very helpful and helped us complete our official formalities.

A short meeting with Dr. T. R. Sharma gave all the boost required for the day. He pleasantly welcomed us to the Institute and asked for my introduction, areas of interest, what I wish to learn at the institute and regarding my college background. He  assigned me to work under the guidance of Dr. Joy. K. Roy, Scientist E. (http://www.nabi.res.in/jkroy.aspx).

We spent the day busy making arrangements for accommodation at the Institute during the training period. Spoke to JRFs, SRFs and Research associates at the Institute.

The campus had a vibrant aura with well equipped labs and well established infrastructure. The environment in the campus seems very pleasant with lots of greenery and plants and trees are labelled with their scientific names to give the campus a more scientific look.

Signing off for the day, looking forward for a great learning experience at the Institute with a good start tomorrow.
